Solana Mobile has officially announced that its long-anticipated native token, SKR, will go live on January 21, 2026. The launch marks a major step in building out the crypto-centric ecosystem around its Seeker smartphone platform.
The SKR token is designed to power key functions across the Solana Mobile environment, including staking, governance, and broader ecosystem coordination. It will be integrated into the company’s blockchain-enabled mobile platform, which combines a dedicated app store and secure mobile interface.
According to Solana Mobile, holders of SKR will be able to stake their tokens with designated operators called Guardians, who will help secure the network and participate in governance decisions affecting the platform’s direction.
Solana Mobile has already taken a snapshot of activity on Seeker devices to determine eligibility for an upcoming airdrop, with 20% of SKR’s total supply reserved for users and developers who met participation criteria during “Seeker Season 1.” The company cited broad engagement, including millions of transactions and hundreds of decentralized apps, as part of the reason for moving forward with the token launch.
In addition to the airdrop, the tokenomics plan returns a portion of the SKR supply to the wider Solana community, while allocating shares to Solana Mobile and its parent organization, Solana Labs. Further details on individual token claims are expected soon.
